    Workshop Overview

    This hands-on workshop introduces kids to the fundamentals of clay hand-building. Through engaging activities, they will explore texture, form, and creativity while sculpting their own unique pieces. The art works will be taken back to the Femme Sole Studio for firing and glaze finishing. Works will be delivered back to the hosting location.  

    Workshop Objectives

    • Encourage self-expression through clay.

    • Teach basic hand-building techniques (pinching, coiling, or slab-building).

    • Introduce painting and surface decoration.

    • Provide a fun and immersive sensory experience.

    Workshop Breakdown (2 hour session)

    Hand-Building & Sculpting

    • Introduction to clay and hand-building techniques (pinching, coiling, slab-building).

    • Kids create their own clay pieces based on a theme (e.g., sea creatures, animals, self-portraits).

    • Exploration of texture using tools and natural objects.

    • Finishing touches (smoothing, adding details, signing names).

    • Pieces are set aside to dry for 15 mins where they pick colors and then paint their sculptures.  

    Materials 

    • Clay (approx. 1-2 lbs per child)

    • Basic sculpting tools provided

    • Sculpting bats, and turntables

    • Acrylic paints and brushes

    • Sponges & cleanup supplies

    • Payment Due: 50% Deposit to book the workshop, and balance due on the day of workshop.

Healing Arts At Shou Sugi Ban House

Flow and Form invites participants to explore the tactile, meditative process of hand-building clay sculptures and vessels, guided by Jessamyn Go’s signature approach rooted in movement and intuition. Inspired by organic forms and the inherent energy of clay, the workshop encourages each participant to connect deeply with material and self.

Jessamyn Go, whose practice is celebrated across the East End and beyond, is known for her dynamic series of sculptural works that bridge art, design, and storytelling. As founder of Femme Sole Ceramics, she continues to push the boundaries of contemporary ceramics while nurturing a strong creative community.
